NRL 2026 — The Season So Far
The 2026 NRL season runs from the Las Vegas opener on 1 March (AEDT) to the Grand Final at Accor Stadium, Sydney on Sunday 4 October. Seventeen teams play 27 rounds for a place in the top eight, with each club's top-30 salary cap set at $11.95 million for 2026. The Brisbane Broncos are the defending premiers after ending a 19-year drought with a 26–22 Grand Final win over Melbourne in October 2025.
The season opener in Las Vegas delivered a double New Zealand connection: the Newcastle Knights beat the North Queensland Cowboys 28–18 and the Bulldogs edged the Dragons 15–14 at Allegiant Stadium. Round 1 continued with the Storm's 52–4 demolition of the Eels — the biggest home win of the season — while the State of Origin series (27 May Sydney, 17 June Melbourne, 8 July Brisbane) and the Rugby League World Cup (opening 15 October with Australia v New Zealand) anchor the representative calendar. The 2026 expansion picture is already set: Perth Bears join in 2027 and the Papua New Guinea Chiefs in 2028.
How NRL Betting Works
Rugby league betting is built on a simple scoring system: a try is worth 4 points, a conversion 2, a penalty goal 2 and a field goal 1, and the ladder awards 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw. State of Origin 2026 Recap
The 45th Origin series opened at Accor Stadium, Sydney on 27 May with Queensland winning 28–14; Game II at the MCG on 17 June drew a record Origin crowd of 91,671; and Game III at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane on 8 July decided the series. The women's series expanded to three games for the first time (30 April Newcastle, 14 May Brisbane, 28 May Gold Coast) and the Under-19s double-header ran on 18 June at North Sydney Oval. Finals and the Grand Final
The regular season ends with Round 27 on 3–6 September. The top eight then play through qualifying and elimination finals, semi-finals and preliminary finals to the Grand Final at Accor Stadium, Sydney on Sunday 4 October (7:30pm AEDT).
