NRL Premiership Odds 2026

Updated NRL Grand Final betting odds and analysis

Current NRL Premiership Favourites

Here are the leading contenders for the 2026 NRL Premiership based on current betting markets. Prices shown are indicative examples — NRL premiership markets move every round, so always check live markets at your bookmaker before betting.

Brisbane Broncos — Defending Premiers

The Broncos ended a 19-year drought with a 26–22 Grand Final win over the Storm in October 2025, coming from 22–12 down with Reece Walsh winning the Clive Churchill Medal. As defending premiers they carry the favourite's target on their backs — every team lifts against them, and their early-season consistency remains the question mark that keeps their price honest.

Melbourne Storm — $5.50 (indicative)

Bellamy's men are perennial contenders. Their defensive structure keeps them in every game and they've now made back-to-back grand finals (2024, 2025). They're building nicely towards finals footy and are the benchmark for line-covering consistency. Good each-way value.

Penrith Panthers — $4.50 (indicative)

The 2021–2023 three-peat machine remains the team to beat even after the 2024 and 2025 grand final losses. Their system produces results regardless of player turnover, and their Round 14 demolition of the Tigers (68–0) showed the ceiling is still there. The value is diminishing but they're deservedly near the top of the market.

Sydney Roosters — $8.00 (indicative)

Injuries have hampered the Chooks but their depth is excellent. If they get key players back for finals, they're a genuine threat — and their 2026 recruitment has addressed the halves' cover.

Cronulla Sharks — $10.00 (indicative)

The Sharks have been consistent without being spectacular. Their draw in the final rounds will determine whether they're a genuine contender.

Value Picks

How Premiership Betting Works

You're betting on which team wins the Grand Final on 4 October at Accor Stadium. Each-way (EW) betting is available at some bookmakers — typically 1/4 odds for a top 2 or top 4 finish depending on the bookie. Always check the terms before placing an each-way bet. Futures are usually settled on the grand final result; if the grand final is drawn after extra time, the premiership is shared and most bookies pay both ways.

When to Bet on the Premiership

The best time to take a premiership price is usually after a poor patch from a quality side. Avoid betting on favourites before the finals — the value disappears as the market contracts. Back your value picks early in the season or after a form dip. History helps: in the last decade the premiership winner has rarely been the pre-season favourite, and the 2025 Broncos were available at long odds mid-season before storming home with three comeback finals wins.

Recent Premiership History

The last decade shows how quickly markets can turn: Sharks 2016, Storm 2017, Roosters 2018–19, Storm 2020, Panthers 2021–22–23, Panthers 2024, Broncos 2025. Only the Panthers (three straight) and Roosters (back-to-back) have repeated, and only three clubs have won the title since 2016 — a reminder that premiership markets are structurally concentrated, and that value usually sits with the 4th–8th priced teams rather than the favourite.

Premiership vs Minor Premiership

The minor premiership (ladder winners after 27 rounds) is a separate market with shorter prices and different dynamics: teams sometimes rest players late once top spot is secure, so the minor premiership favourite and the premiership favourite are rarely the same bet. If you think a team is the best in the comp but will rest stars in the run home, play the premiership, not the minor premiership.

Each-Way Terms

Most bookies offer each-way on premiership futures at 1/4 odds for a top-2 or top-4 finish (check the terms — they vary). An each-way bet on a $21 shot pays $6.25 if the team merely makes the top four, which is why EW is the disciplined way to play longshots like the Knights or Warriors.
